About the role
We're looking for a backend engineer to build the discovery and ranking systems at the heart of Meilo — the systems that surface the right look to the right person.
You will own real infrastructure that powers how millions of people discover style.
What you'll do
- Design and build search, discovery and ranking services.
- Model structured style data so it can be queried and ranked well.
- Tune ranking on execution quality and intent — not vanity metrics.
- Keep query latency low as the catalogue and traffic grow.
- Work with data and product to turn signals into better results.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years building backend services, ideally in Java or a JVM language.
- Solid grasp of databases, indexing and query performance.
- Experience with search or ranking systems is a strong plus.
- Pragmatic, ownership-driven and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Bonus: interest in relevance, ranking or recommendation systems.
